The lack of a direct request for the client to imagine such a situation allows the client to consider this without any sense of pressure.

The story of a colleague who once used hypnosis on a muscular, ex-military client to give him a sense of strength and focus shows the value of adapting your communication style to the person you're speaking to, but also paves the way for a string of embedded commands that encourage the client to also draw on strength and focus to "speak with absolute confidence and conviction."

This idea of speaking with confidence is expanded and unpacked, showing the client that speaking with calm conviction reflects a respect and decency towards their own ideas. Just as they show curiosity and interest in what other people have to say, they should "extend the same courtesy" to themselves.

Now future pacing allows the client to view themselves speaking in this new way. They observe how their tone reflects the value they give to their own ideas, and thereby draws others in, too. The notion that we are all conduits for insight, creativity, and wisdom, and that the more we trust in that conduit, the stronger it becomes, reassures the client that a kind of positive feedback loop will build their confidence and curiosity more and more over time.

Finally, the client is invited to merge with their future self and enjoy a sense of connection with the people they are speaking to. They are given time to really internalize the feeling of speaking with focus and conviction, before being encouraged to get a sense of how their life will improve as they continue to trust in their ideas and communicate them effectively. Embedded commands ingrain this new skill set, and the confidence that comes with it.
