After my son killed himself I developed panic attacks. How can I get my life back?

I started having panic attacks after our son killed himself. I ended up in the hospital a couple of times with 180/110 blood pressure. After this started, I couldn't go in grocery stores or any place with lots of people.

That has all changed now, but I still can't leave town in my car without losing it. It's been seven years. I have asthma, which is set off by stress. I would love to have my life back.

Hello Susie and thank you for writing in.

The severe shock of such a tragedy can so often lead to panic disorders, as suddenly what seemed certain and stable can come to seem hazardous and uncertain even when it's not really.

I'm interested to know how you improved from not being able to go out and be around lots of people to actually now being able to do those things. If you can improve some, you can improve some more. It will be wonderful to be able to drive beyond your town feeling calm, relaxed, self-assured, and comfortable. I suggest you try our free panic attacks program.

If you feel you need more help after that, then you can always try the 'Overcome Fear of Driving' download and/or the 'Overcome Panic Attacks Pack'.

To live fully is the best thing you can do.

All my best,

Mark
