How can I stop being so much in my own head?
Hi, Mark!
I have a problem with too much forward thinking. I cannot live in the moment, although I notice when I am in the moment, that is when I am most happy. I overthink situations so much that it causes me immense anxiety and stress. I would love to live without so much thought.

Hi Sharmaine and thank you for your question.
Over-analysis, over-rumination, and worry can all sap the actual moment from us, leaving life feeling less meaningful. Of course, a major part of humanity's evolution came when we learned to use the imagination to plan the future and live 'beyond the moment', but this capacity to think ahead should be a tool to be used selectively, not compulsively.
During times of great emergency or when we are really stretched by a new activity or something we need to learn, we do focus solely on the here and now and that can feel extremely life-affirming (even, weirdly, sometimes during emergency times if the consequences turn out fine). Being too stuck in one's own head, too analytical, can make us less effective and happy.
I suggest you use the new 'Trapped in Your Head' download and the 'Be More Spontaneous' and 'Analysis Paralysis' sessions will also be useful.
All best wishes,
Mark
