Being brave enough to have a career I enjoy

Anonymous's picture

I'm doing your self esteem hypnosis sessions (I'm on Week 2). They are great so far!

I have been an artist my whole life. I was raised to be practical and be careful with money, getting a sensible career in backend software engineering. While I did enjoy mathy stuff in school, this career is both boring and difficult - nothing like enjoyable intellectual school problems. I have been increasingly unhappy in my last 7 years, despite numerous attempts to fake it until I make it.

Despite many books and so much self work, I am still struggling to find the bravery to really make a go at becoming an artist or a creative for a living. At this point, I really must get another type of job just so I can have the energy to make my art and be happy in my home life. But, I can't seem to muster the bravery to make any changes. I'm afraid of not having that stability and money that come from this job, even though I know, intellectually, stability is an illusion. No matter how much I save, I am afraid.
