Eating disorder / compulsive eating / recalcitrant bad habits

I have suffered eating disorders for a long time. I am on a good path to full recovery and I am most of the time able to eat only when hungry and stop when full.

BUT it still happens that I stuff myself for no reason and become unable to stop. I eat until very sick. It usually lasts a couple of days since the discomfort of being full (and sometimes guilty) triggers new food intake.

I guess my main concern is that I have no idea WHY I do it in the first place?
