Boy, 8, with a food phobia

Julie Gibons's picture

A boy, 8 years old, was brought to see me by his mother. He appears shy and eats about four types of food (information from mother). When asked, he said his favorite food is pizza: ham and pineapple. They make it together. Mother has tried participation in food handling to encourage him to try more food. He eats no vegetables, not even potato. He vomits it up or retches.

He looks healthy, slightly overweight with a solid frame. He seems happy, though he was a little embarassed at his mother talking about him. He was polite, well-mannered, and spoke when spoken to. He offered information when prompted by a question.

Being a new therapist, I have referred her to another therapist, but would like to know how I could best assist in this area in future?

Thank you,

Julie

Hi Julie,

Thanks for your question. We have a range of hypnosis downloads and scripts for children that will help you learn how to use hypnosis with that age group.

Specific scripts that you can adapt to address a case like this include 'Stop Being a Picky Eater', 'Enjoy Eating Fruits and Vegetables', and 'Try New Things'.

I hope this helps!

Best wishes,

Rebekah
