Spinal Stenosis (lower back) causing hip and leg pain. Which download?

I have a relative with Spinal Stenosis (caused by arthritis). While this squeezes the nerves in the lower back, the pain is not in the back, but more around the left side - butt, hip, and then down to the knee. So far steroid injections have been ineffective.
In short, it is a nerve problem caused by arthritis in the lower back that presents as chronic pain in the hip area. That is like, five or six possible scripts? Which is the best bet?
