Social groups

At school at break, I struggle to think of things to say in groups and never involve myself. I just stand in the circle. I don't have a fear of social groups as such, just I never know what to do and say, then feel stupid standing and not speaking. What would be best for me?
(These groups are normally about 3+ people)
