Fear of gore

Gina Donaher's picture

I have a new client coming in who has a fear of seeing, talking, and even reading anything gory. It is not specifically of blood. In fact, that is the least of it. It is worsened when he is in public i.e., a movie theater vs tv. He wants to pursue a career as an EMT.

Is your fear and anxiety script something I could customize or does it contain a metaphor or story I would not be able to add to? Reframing might help. Round room is also an option but not very customized. Any additional thoughts? I noticed you do not have a hemophobia script that I could expand upon?

Regards,

Gina

Hi Gina,

Thank you for your question.

You can absolutely adapt the Overcome Fear and Anxiety script to address any fear. :)

With an idea in mind about making blood donation more comfortable, I once asked Roger why we don't have a 'fear of blood' download and he said something to the effect of because people who have that fear often have a related fainting response, it wasn't an issue he felt comfortable addressing in a prerecorded session that someone might be listening to alone at home. He'd rather have the client in front of him to help with any abreaction.

Best wishes,

Rebekah
