Wondering how to target my generalized phobia

Anonymous's picture

I have panic attacks in a variety of situations that seem to involve feeling trapped, but only when it would involve me embarrassing myself in front of other people.

For example, if I was in a line at the food store, I would be fine until someone got in line behind me. Or at a movie I am fine until it gets towards the end of the movie where getting up would seem disruptive to others watching the movie. Of course things like the hairdresser and dentist are bad but I have no problem in a car. Although I do have a big problem not having a car when I'm out.

Hi there,

Thank you for your question.

It sounds like, as with most anxiety-based troubles, your imagination is spending a lot of time and energy it doesn't need to, imagining situations that are unlikely to happen and then worrying about them.

I hope you find the downloads below helpful in getting that imagination back under useful productive control. You might also like to have a look at 'Care Less What Others Think'.

Best wishes,
