"I was operating from a 'hero complex' of a sort"

As an aspiring entrepreneur, I have accumulated a lot of knowledge on many things that are required to make the business a success and yet my two ventures failed and the third one is on the verge of failing.

In case of the third, what I repeatedly noticed many times was that I was lecturing my staff and being in the "dream world" quite a bit. But despite knowing that, I was unable to stop.

What was also happening is that I was operating from a "hero complex" of a sort. I had built a team of minions around me, who could only operate on instructions (or not even) and I had this thought inside me that I will fix it all and bring prosperity to myself and others around me.

As a result, I went through multiple burnouts and was about US $100K in the red.

I stopped being a hero and put accountability in place that people around me perform the duties that they are supposed to perform.

On the home front, I stopped being a hero to my kids who would come to me with all sorts of demands and I would either be a fixer for them or would at least give them "something of value", quite compulsively.
