Here's an interesting example. Psychologist John Bargh asked a group of students to walk up a corridor into his office where he gave them a test. They had to make four word sentences out of apparently random lines of words as quickly as possible.

The students didn't know that many of the words were the classic stereotypes for being old – 'grey', 'lonely', 'bingo', 'wrinkle', 'Florida'... These words were scattered amongst lots of other words. Then Bargh looked at how the students walked back down the corridor away from his office. The vast majority walked out more slowly than they had walked in. Their unconscious behavior had been influenced by words.
