Getting up to the mountains usually felt more comfortable; I commented to my companions one trip that I'd suddenly realized, "I miss trees!" (I thought it was just because I grew up in Wisconsin.) I recently moved closer to the coast and have a lovely view of a nature preserve out my bedroom window. Better job, too, among other things, but the greenery is high in my list of reasons I'm glad to have escaped the desert. It’s interesting to hear about your research, knowing that I was not happy living in the California desert the last 4 years. Getting up to the mountains usually felt more comfortable; I commented to my companions one trip that I’d suddenly realized, “I miss trees!” (I thought it was just because I grew up in Wisconsin.)
