Coming out of coma and recovery

Corina Zanner-Entwistle's picture

Hi again, and thank you for your reply to my last request. That was very useful. I wonder if you could help me again.

I have a 16-year-old client who has just come out of a coma and is busy recovering. Her brain seems okay, but she still needs a lot of work physically (not sure yet if she will walk/talk again). She is communicating with eyes, hand squeeze, and identifying letters of the alphabet.

I made some audios while she was still in the coma and would now like to make some more with more suggestions of healing and recovering, well-being, strength, and resilience (maybe even forgiveness and letting go). Any added suggestions and ideas of stories or metaphors would be very welcome.

Thank you so much!

Hi Corina,

Thank you for your question. I'm sorry to hear about what your client has been through.

I hope you find the programs below helpful for her recovery. To reach the script versions, please click the 'Text Version' link on the right side of the audio page.

I'm also reminded of the story about how Milton Erickson wasn't expected to walk again after fighting off polio as a teenager, but was determined to regain that skill and taught himself by watching his young sibling learn to do it for the first time and focusing on moving his limbs bit by bit (I think that's how it went :) ). So you might use his story as a blueprint for resilience and relearning how to talk and walk.

Best wishes,

Rebekah
