Whether you are harnessing the power of hypnosis to help someone else or to bring
about changes in your own life, the key to success is translating your new
understanding into action. Whether you are the coach or the quarterback you are
nothing without the touchdown.
This is where SMART goals come in. Smart stands for -
Specific - what you or your client wants stated as simply, concisely
and explicitly as possible
Measurable - an outcome that can be assessed either on a sliding scale
(1-10), or as a hit/miss, success/failure
Achievable - realistic given the current situation, resources and time
available but that doesn't mean there will not be a stretchhhhhhh to reach it
Relevant - a goal that helps with an overall mission or bigger objectives.
Time-bound - realistic timeframe/s.
Our advice is set a limit of between 5 and 7 goals at any one time. As goals get
closer or are completed new ones can be set. If you find yourself with more than 7
goals, you are probably writing mini-goals or tasks. Remember to keep your goals focused
on a major area of responsibility.
We have
a sample
goal worksheet on our Uncommon Knowledge site, which shows
you how to set out goals.
