Everyone needs help with self confidence and self esteem at some point in his or
her lives. No one feels great about himself all the time. And most of us have
areas in which we feel really confident and others in which we just don't. So
here are a few tips to help you improve your self confidence and self esteem.
Quit shoulding on yourself. So many times we're controlled by what we think we
should do or what others tell us we should do. When you do that, you're
discounting your own wants, needs, desires, and abilities. Decide what it is
you really want, as opposed to what you should want, and go for it
Respect yourself. Most of us have so many responsibilities that it's hard to
juggle everything. And when we drop a ball, we blame ourselves. By doing that,
you aren't respecting yourself. You need to be just as kind and gentle with
yourself as you are with everyone else. If you saw a friend struggling, you
wouldn't chastise her for it; you'd be sympathetic. Do the same for yourself.
That's what respect is all about, and you owe it to yourself.
Set realistic goals. Setting goals helps you figure out where you're going and
how to get there. But your goals have to be realistic. If you want to be
president of your own company, there are certain steps you have to take to
achieve that. If you just blindly say that you want to own your own company in
six months without knowing what steps you can take to make that happen, you're
just setting yourself up for failure and that's no good for your self confidence
and self esteem.
