Increasing the self esteem of children is a problem that many parents and teachers tackle every day. However, low
self esteem is not only confined to children as many adults suffer with this problem as well. There are many tips to
increasing self esteem that people of all ages can easily follow.
One of the first things to help along the way to building self esteem is to set your goals so that you know you can
achieve them. It is disheartening to get almost to the finish line and never make it over. If you set a goal you
know you can reach and celebrate each small success, you can work towards increasing your self esteem. You have to
keep in mind that this is not something that happens overnight and will take time. Start by taking on projects that
you know you can do and will be able to do well. Each time you finish a project, set the goal a little higher and
you will gradually be increasing your self esteem and may not even realize it.
Keep track of what you have accomplished and don't let failures get you down. Failures happen to everyone and you
should use them as learning experiences. Look at the reasons for the failure and use what you discover to help
you succeed the next time around. For some people, raising their self esteem is very difficult and they require
professional help either through counselling, self-help courses or hypnosis. Any of these techniques are very
effective for increasing self esteem
