Jelousy is a fear that you are not as good as others or an envy of what they have.
People, who are always jelous of everyone else, are afraid their need will not be met.
Jelousy has been the cause of marriage break- ups, destroyed friendships and strained
relationships among siblings. The greater the perceived threat, the greater the jelousy
becomes. Being jelous of your neighbour can lead you deep in debt as you try to keep up
appearances and have the same or better things than your neighbour does. Severe jelousy
has even led to crimes such as theft, arson and murder.
Many times people who are jelous are very insecure. They always think that they have to
measure up to the imagined standards of others.
The best treatment for jelousy is to have good relationships. Trust is an essential
element for a good relationship and with jelousy there is very little trust. Building
trust takes a lot of time and effort, especially with someone who is habitually jelous
of everyone.
However, it is not always a bad thing. Being jelous of someone can spur you into action
whether it is to study harder in school or to get a better job. In this way being jelous
can be good, although it is usually perceived as being a bad quality.
You can overcome jelousy with hypnosis.
