Now I’m not sure who originally said that because, alas, I most certainly know that I do not know everything. But some people act as if they do, don’t they? Whatever the subject matter under discussion, they’ve got an opinion on it (even if they actually know very little about it). And their opinion is ‘better’ than yours. They’ll wade in and talk at you because it’s their job to ‘put you right’ on… well anything, really. They are always right and on the rare occasion they’re not, guess what? It’s not their fault.

The problem with always having to be right and feeling you know all there is, or that your take on something is the last word on the matter, is that this attitude actually prevents you taking on genuinely new information and knowledge. How can you fill a container that’s already crammed full with ‘knowledge’?
