People get so frustrated when they just can’t either get slimmer or keep the weight off once they are slimmer.
To my mind, a diet shouldn’t feel like a ‘diet’. That is, you shouldn’t feel like you are not really eating enough. You shouldn’t feel overly deprived. We’ve been around for millions of years – not you or me personally, of course! For the vast majority of that time, we ate plants (vegetables and fruits) and meat and fish. We didn’t eat bread, cake or processed sugars. Grain-based carbohydrates only became part of our diet around 10,000 years ago – a blink of the eye in evolutionary terms.
It’s not healthy fats that make you fat, it’s the massive insulin release that large quantities of carbohydrate gives you that turns your body into a fat storing mechanism. It’s not so much how much we eat that makes us fat and unhealthy, but more how much of how much we eat. (Got that?) Since I started restricting unhealthy carbs in my diet, I eat more food, if anything, but I have lost surplus fat on my body!
